Frequently Asked Questions:

When is the cruise?
Friday, October 19, 2007. Boarding begins at 7:45p.

Where/when can I purchase tickets?
Tickets will be sold at both the Evanston (Norris Box Office) and Chicago (Lurie Center Lobby) campuses, starting Monday, September 24th.

Will there be food/alcohol?
Light hors d'oeuvres will be served and a cash bar will be available. However, we do recommend eating a proper dinner beforehand, as drinking and socializing on an empty stomach is ill-advised. If you tend to get motion sick, you may want to have a slightly smaller proper meal.

I don't know anyone, should I still come?
Of course! The whole point is so that students from across disciplines can get to know one another in a non-academic, slightly sophisticated setting. You can sign up for the Pre-Soiree Blind Group Dinner Date, and we also hope to have a few ice breaker activities set up around the saloon to help people get to know one another.

Is there a dress code?
While we won't turn anyone away who has purchased a ticket, in the spirit of the event, let's just say "fashionable". Definitely not casual, but not exactly semi-formal either (unless you feel like dressing up.)

How come there are only 200 tickets available?
Safety. While we would love to have this event be open to everyone, the Summer of George is only able to accommodate 200 passengers.

Cash, check, or credit card?
Please pay by cash or check only. Checks should be made out to "Northwestern University" with NU Lakeshore Soiree in the memo line.

Can I buy tickets at the door?
If there are any still available, yes. I wouldn't count on there being any left, however.

Can I sell my tickets?
If for some reason you can no longer attend, you may sell your ticket at or below face value. If you signed up for the Pre-Soiree Group Dinner Date, please inform us if you sell your tickets so that we can keep the arrangements straight.

Can you set me up to have dinner with <insert cutie's name here>?
No. Unfortunately, our community building grant proposal for a graduate student dating service was rejected. (Or at least it would have been had we written one.) Besides, you have three whole hours to muster up the courage to approach him/her!
